Douglas Park's Carla Burns had a superb week at the Scottish Girls Amateur Championship, finishing runner-up after a hard-fought final against defending champion Carly McDonald.
Carla opened with two solid rounds on Friday's strokeplay to qualify inside the top 16 and progress to the matchplay stages over the weekend. On Saturday she came through a tough last-16 match 4&3, before edging a close quarter-final which went all the way to the final hole.
The semi-final brought her best golf of the week: up against the number 1 seed following the strokeplay, Carla produced a really composed performance to win 4&2 and reach the final.
In the final, she fought hard against defending champion Carly McDonald and although Carla couldn't quite get over the line against the reigning champion it was a week to be proud of.
A brilliant run for the 14-year-old Scottish international, who continues to show why she's one to watch in Scottish girls' golf. Carla, who is coached by Colin Fisher, next plays at the SGF Under-15s Championship at Kingknowe Golf Club.
